Myark Tree and Ground Services has undertaken a commitment to protect the environment and to prevent pollution at all levels of its business activities.
Myark is committed to reducing its carbon emissions and we have taken large steps to being carbon neutral. We have signed up to the 10:10 campaign. The aim of this is to reduce our emissions by 10% by 2010.
As machinery is replaced we upgrade where possible to machines with less of an environmental impact such as the new generation of Stihl saws that have lower fuel consumption and produce lower emissions.
Myark appreciates the importance of the surrounding environment during it works and our staff take great care to protect it as much as possible.
Our commitment to environment-conscious practices encompasses the following:-
No Mess Policy
We exercise caution during our work to ensure that all waste is thoroughly cleared on completion of each project.
Bio Oils
Our chainsaws, manufactured by market leading forestry tools specialist Stihl, use 100% biodegradable chain oils for minimal damage to the environment.
Traditional Methods
We avoid using heavy machinery unless absolutely necessary, and use hand tools wherever possible to minimize environmental harm.
Nesting Birds
We always assess trees to be worked on or removed to ensure that there are no nesting birds. It is illegal to disturb nesting birds between 1st march and 31st October. Once work commences the tree is continually monitored, if nesting birds are discovered at any time work will be halted and appropriate measures will be taken.
Recycling
Trees generate large quantities of green waste. All our brush is reduced to wood chip and is 100% recycled through council re-cycling centres and licensed green waste sites. Logs and larger waste is either used as firewood or mulch depending on its type.
Logs used as firewood have a carbon advantage over coal in that they are carbon neutral.
